Find out about the origins of CWS and our mission to help children build a brighter future...
On 9th May, a mother and son team from St Anthony's School completed a 10km walk to raise money for CWS. Geno was keen to have a go at sponsored walking, and Just Walk in the South Downs was the perfect opportunity, with a range of distances to suit every age group - from 10km to 60km!
Sarah and Geno had been busy fundraising in the run up to the event, with a very successful cake sale. Geno made the Chelsea cupcakes himself, and they went down very well at his dad's FA semi final party.
The walk was quite tough for Geno, and very hilly in parts, but they made it in a fantastic time of 2 hours and 45 minutes. Sarah said: ‘The walk was amazing! We had such a great time, I am so proud of Geno'. Luckily he was rewarded with an ice cream at the finish line!
There were a total of 720 walkers at Just Walk this year, with over 100 charities represented, raising approximately £248,000 - a phenomenal amount.
