About Us
Find out about the origins of CWS and our mission to help children build a brighter future...
In May 2008 our ECD Technical Advisor and Education Programme Officer worked with the CWSN Education Officer and Rural Programme Coordinator to deliver a total of 12 days training in the Day Care Health Centres (DCHCs).
The training was very practical, including many demonstration sessions with the children. On the final day of each 3 days of training the DCHC facilitators took the lead and facilitated the morning session, putting the training into practice.
The training particularly focused on
Developing fine motor control for writing
Pattern writing in salt
Observing children playing
Practising writing in sand
The training was a positive experience for all involved, and the Day Care Health Centre facilitators (teachers) themsevles commented:
"This training is much more useful because we see you doing it with the children in the classroom and it is easy for us to do it."
"We got the chance to see you doing with the real children and in our own DCHC and also we got the chance to do it practically."
"We feel it's useful children being able to learn, play and write independently"
"I like the afternoon session because you used the example from the children's work while explaining the theory which makes it easy to understand"
"Now we have the knowledge to find many local resources which can be helpful for our children to learn"
"Training is useful because we have enough time and are not rushed in activities. There was time to show activities in detail".
