On the 6th of March, Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) organised a rally to promote child protection and child rights, and bring the issue of child labour to the public's attention.
CWS's partner, PCCI, is very concerned about child labour in Pokhara. They have 5 drop in centres designed to provide working children with an opportunity to learn, receive healthcare, and play or relax. Children from each of the centres took part in this rally, along with Shakti Samuha, Jyoti Street Project and other organisations working with children.
The children were very enthusiastic about the rally! They practiced their slogans in the weeks beforehand, and on the big day, they confidently stepped onto the streets hoping for their voices to be heard. After the rally, young people who were former child labourers shared their experiences with the children, trying to motivate them to learn and strive towards a better future.
