Find out about the origins of CWS and our mission to help children build a brighter future...
Four adventure-loving college friends, now in their fifties, have recently taken part in an experience of a lifetime to help raise funds for CWS projects in Nepal. Kieran Duff, Chuck Richardson, Rowan Davidson, and Hugh Bryson set themselves the target of trekking to the base camp in Nepal's Annapurna range in the Himalayas in support of local projects.
The group touched down in Kathmandu, moving to Pokhara where their trekking began in. They meandered along the well worn paths of the foothills, experiencing the vibrancy of rural Nepalese life, before beginning their challenging ascent towards the Annapurna base camp. Separated by illness they reached their goal in clusters finally arriving at the base camp to be met by the stunning sight of the sacred Manchapachure peak. After a lengthy descent they reunited in Dovan and continued to Chhomrong where they celebrated their achievement amidst the local Diwali celebrations, adding the perfect ending to their memorable adventure.
As well as embarking on an exhilarating journey the group set out to complete a once-in-a-lifetime challenge and to take advantage of the chance to support a vital cause. They have been able to raise £1500 so far from donations mainly made by friends and family. Despite this fantastic achievement the group would like to double this figure and achie
ve their initial target of £3000. If you are inspired by the group's deeds then please do not hesitate to contribute to their cause. You can read Kieran's in depth account and make a donation towards the trekkers cause and CWS by clicking here.
