CWS wins Optimist Award

Good news website optimistworld.com has announced CWS as one of five winners of its Charity Award for 2009/10, out of a total 350 charities shortlisted. The award, which aims to "honour the amazing work undertaken by UK fundraisers and more than 150,000 small to medium sized UK-registered charities", will provide funds to support our projects in Nepal.

Optimist World founder Achim Kram was full of praise for CWS, explaining that the winners of the prize "stood out with that extra bit of clarity on their applications, showing the potential outcomes they could offer those who rely upon their support, even for relatively small funding - and the effectiveness of their operations".

Optimist World is now set to raise a prize fund for the winners by auctioning two fantastic holidays, donated by its sponsors, worth over £13,000. The first prize is a five night stay in luxury accommodation on Huvafen Fushi in the Maldives. Huvafen Fushi - which literally translates as ‘Dream Island' - is an unparalleled oasis, showcasing the world's first underwater spa treatment rooms, and 43 "island chic" bungalows. For those seeking a bit of adventure, the second prize offers a chance to join the Animal Conservation Programme at Shamwari Game Reserve, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. From caring for baby animals to working with the team on the Big 5 game reserves this is a chance like no other for those with a passion for conservation.
