We are currently working with more than 15 local partner organisations. 4 of these partners have formed the 'Consortium for Working Children' which supports street and working children, and advocates against child labour and trafficking. In 2008 we started working with a number of new partners to support new projects, which still focus on Education, Health Care, Social Opportunities, Child Rights and Child Protection. This enabled us to extend our help to more of the thousands of disadvantaged and vulnerable children in Nepal.

CWSN was established in 1997, and is a pro-active grassroots organisation, working directly with disadvantaged and marginalized children and young people. They particularly focus on children's health, education, skill development and reintegration, in order to create lasting change for children. The first project supported by CWS, was CWSN's Day Care Health Centre, and until 2006 CWSN was our only local partner. They are still a major partner, and we share a close relationship with them, with many of the projects CWS supports being managed by CWSN.
PCCI is formed of representatives from business and industry, and since its' establishment in 1954 the organisation has played a vital role in the development of the city of Pokhara. Their support has spread beyond commercial and economic areas, to tourism, health care and social development. Since 1999 PCCI has organised programmes campaigning against child labour exploitation, and promoting children's rights. They have provided services to working children, including vocational and apprenticeship training, and women's groups have been formed to reduce poverty and thus reduce the incidence of child labour. As a member of the Consortium for Working Children, PCCI has established 5 contact centres for working children, as well as taking part in outreach and advocacy work.
The desperate situation of a group of young children living on the streets in Pokhara, moved Sathi Nepal's founders to turn compassion into action. Determined to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children, Sathi Nepal was founded in 1999, and now helps hundreds of children and their families.
Sathi Nepal provides access to education, health care and income generation opportunities for children and adults who are socially and economically underprivileged, discriminated against and denied their basic rights. The organisation strives to empower families, schools and communities to better provide for their own children and facilitate lasting change for their futures. This is done through educational sponsorship, nursery school improvement, emergency medical support, income generation loans, and youth clubs. As a member of the Consortium for Working Children, Sathi Nepal has established a programme to specifically support street and working children to return to formal education.
Shakti Samuha is run by Nepali women who have been rescued from slavery, including forced prostitution in India, and returned to Nepal. Many of these women were returned to rehabilitation centres by non-governmental organisations, but even in these centres, the girls treatment did not help to restore their self-esteem and basic human rights. Some of them felt it was time to claim their rights themselves, so they set up Shakti Samuha, which translates as ‘an empowered group'. Having struggled to reclaim their lives, these women are reaching out to help other returning trafficking survivors, and victims of violence and abuse, by providing shelter, legal aid, vocational training and counselling. As a member of the Consortium for Working Children, Shakti Samuha has established an emergency shelter in Pokhara, for girls who are victims of, or at risk of, trafficking or other forms of abuse.
